Back To Basics

"Seek ye first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you" Matthew 6:33 (NIV Life App Study Bible)

God recently prompted me to occasionally go Back to the Basics, meaning, to remind all Christian and non-Christian readers that Faithful & Free Marriage is first and foremost based on your and your spouses unyielding relationship with the one true God of heaven and of earth.

Almost every blog includes scripture, and is really only possible to achieve when two ( husband and wife) are one with God. When God started me on this F&F journey, my husband and I were not one with God. I was actually on the edge of jumping onto the infidelity boat. The Holy Spirit literally spoke to me through an acquaintance of mine, who had already sailed that ship. I later fell to my knees and cried out to the Lord to change my husband. Make him the man I needed him to be to help me stay on the right track. Little did I know, my husbands' change was not going to happen right away. God was going to make a change in me first.

Little did I know, my husbands' change was not going to happen right away. God was going to make a change in me first.

Stop Looking at the Speck

Step one for me was to get on the right track with God. Leave my husband and all his faults alone..... "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Matthew 7:3 ( NIV Life Application Study Bible)

I had to realize that true happiness didn't come from me pointing out all of my husbands flaws and demanding change. Rather, it came from MY total commitment to God. I started reading my bible daily, listening to Christian music daily, and talking to God on a regular basis. All this couldn't be for selfish reasons, it was because " The Lord your God is a jealous God ..." Deuteronomy 6:15 You are to put nothing or no one before Him. By, pointing out every single flaw in your spouse, there is no way that you have time to put God first.

As I stayed Faithful to God I noticed little by little, not as many things about my husband bothered me as much. Was he changing or was God helping me to appreciate and honor the imperfect man that he gave to me for a husband? Maybe ... both!

Remember

Just remember: Anytime you decide to get closer to God, the enemy is going to show his ugly little head. Every chance he gets, he is going to try to detour you in whatever way he can. James 4:7 says... resist the devil and he will flee from you. No matter how difficult the battle may look today, Romans 8:28 says: in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.

God is Faithful to you, so stay Faithful to Him.

God is Faithful to you, so stay Faithful to Him

Now together, my husband and I, are one with God and that is how we experience the wonderful aspects of this blessed covenant, our marriage.

All the communication and sexual issues addressed in these blogs, we found, again, were only possible to achieve as we've together been completely committed to God. God has created in us a desire for each other that is out of this world. Yes, we had to go through and are still going through, but I can honestly say that our commitment to God and our marriage has helped tremendously in weathering the storms. Our marriage has more fireworks today than it ever has before. To be truly Faithful & Free really depends on the amount of work both the husband and the wife are willing to put in, and, constantly reminding yourselves of who is allowing the freedom in your marriage in the first place.... Our God!

Be Faithful, Be Free
